Panamanian Amir Alvarado (198-SF-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Heredia, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 36-year old player had a double-double of 39 points and 25 rebounds, while his team beat Siquirres (1-1) 77-71. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Heredia maintains the 3rd position in Costa Rican LBS. Heredia is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. In the team's last game Alvarado had a remarkable 54.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Heredia's top player in his first season with the team. Former Marshalltown Community College star has very solid stats this year. Alvarado is league's best scorer averaging so far 24.3ppg and leads league in rebounds with 16.0rpg. Alvarado is in league's top in and averages impressive 59.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 31-year old Christopher Calderon (89) of Siquirres. Calderon had a very good evening with a double-double of 35 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Siquirres lost that game 71-77 to Heredia (1-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Calderon is one of the most experienced players at Siquirres and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.3ppg (#3). He also registered 5.7 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Heredia's star - Kevin Vargas. Vargas scored 8 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He was another key player of Heredia, helping his team with a 77-71 win against #4 ranked Siquirres in a game of the week. Heredia needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Vargas has a very solid season. In 2 games in Costa Rica he scored 4.5ppg.

The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
